Fresh vs. aged vs. full submissions: which MCA data fits your shop?
A practical guide to choosing and working each type of merchant cash advance data.
Every MCA shop buys data, but the right type depends on how your team sells. A ten-rep calling floor, a solo broker running email campaigns and a funder with in-house underwriters each get the most from a different file.
Fresh MCA data: for teams that win on speed
Fresh records are merchants who asked for funding in the last 0 to 48 hours. They are actively comparing offers, so the first credible call often wins the deal.
- Route new records to reps the moment they arrive.
- Call within the first hour, then follow with a short text.
- Plan several attempts across the first week before moving a record to nurture.
Fresh data costs the most per record, so it pays off when your team can work it immediately. See fresh MCA data.
Aged MCA data: for volume and follow-up
Aged records are 30 to 180 days old. Many of these merchants never funded, took a smaller advance than they wanted, or now need more capital.
- Start with automated email and SMS, then call the merchants who respond.
- Lead with something new: a higher amount, better terms or a faster close.
- Work 30 to 60 day records harder than 120 to 180 day records.
Because each record costs less, aged data is the cheapest way to keep newer reps busy and your pipeline full. See aged MCA data.
Full submissions: for shops that underwrite
Full submissions are complete applications with business financials and bank statements attached. You skip the document chase and go straight to pricing the deal.
- Underwrite the same day. Merchants with a complete file expect a fast answer.
- Confirm the amount and use of funds on the first call.
- Send every offer in writing so the merchant can sign quickly.
Mixing data types
Many shops run all three: fresh data for the calling floor, aged data in an automated nurture sequence, and full submissions for underwriters. Start with a sample of each and compare contact and funding rates before committing to volume.
